Target Audience: Companies / Individuals that want to improve / implement statistical thinking

A "Certificate of Achievement" is awarded upon successful completion.

Overview

The foundation of fact-based management consists of understanding the statistics of the organization. Any part of the organization that uses numbers, and even those where the numbers aren’t obvious, lives and dies on their statistics. Ignoring the numbers doesn’t make them go away. Failing to evaluate them doesn’t eliminate the risks and relationships that produce the results. One professional I know likes to quote the phrase, “In God We Trust . . . everyone else needs data.” Then he quietly adds, “But even God uses numbers.”

Basic descriptive statistics allow us to gain a basic understanding of the numbers: averages, spreads, and distributions. However, we can often use those numbers to make predictions. For years companies tried producing at the upper or lower end of the specifications, only to discover customer returns that tested above or below the limits. An important learning from this experience is that the closer we produce to the limits, the greater the risk of rejection and return. The QTI course in statistics and statistical thinking provides examples and insights into how we can use the numbers all around us to minimize customer rejects, and often even do that while eliminating needless testing. Our approach is to reduce costs while maximizing customer satisfaction, to benefit the most important statistic in the organization . . . the bottom line.

In this course, we will cover the following concepts and the participant will be able to:

  • Perform exploratory analyses
  • Create meaningful graphical displays
  • Calculate summarizing data
  • Summarize distributions
  • Compare distributions
  • Explore bivariate data
  • Create categorial data tables and frequency tables
  • Plan statistical studies
  • Understand data collection techniques
  • Plan and conduct surveys
  • Plan and conduct experiments
  • Apply probability concepts to real-world situations
  • Measure probability as relative frequency
  • Combine independent random variables
  • Understand the normal distribution
  • Create sampling distributions
  • Understand and utilize statistical inference techniques
  • Create confidence intervals
  • Perform tests of significance - means of proportions
  • Perform test of significance using chi-square and slopes from Least Square calculations

Veteran Transition Program

Serving those who served us

veteransicon440x250As long as our Veterans need and deserve assistance, QTI will be committed to providing the best education and training to help them return to civilian life as seamlessly as possible. Not an easy task, however with our multi-disciplined and unique programs, along with our highly qualified professional trainers, some of whom are Veterans themselves, we feel we can serve the few who served all of us.

In addition to career training, we provide the moral and psychological support the veterans and their families need.

➢ We go beyond training to find a “ dead-end job” or be “underemployed”
➢ We feel they deserve respectable and honorable careers to match their honorable service
➢ We educate them to design their careers and reach their potential
➢ We aid them in finding careers they can be proud of, just as they are proud of their service
➢ We help them heal their traumatic psychological wounds
➢ We give them hope and tools to conquer anything they can imagine
➢ We assist them to reconnect with their families and society
➢ But most important, we help them get their lives back!

That’s why all of our classes and workshops are exclusively offered in-person and in a classroom setting, where our Veterans can enjoy the personal attention and consideration of the trainer(s).
