CarlosOlea250x286Carlos Mauricio Olea is a Hispanic Business Owner & Entrepreneur, Founder and Publisher of the three times NAHP’s Gold Award, First Place Winner of the bilingual Spanish-English monthly publication Un Buen Doctor Health Magazine, the recently launched national publication Hispanic Health & Beauty Magazine and president of the publications’ holding company, Hispanic Health and Beauty Media, Inc., which specializes in Multimedia, Marketing, Communications, Consulting, Media Creative, Placement and Publishing.

VivaMejorMagazine 2015 logoA frequent industry speaker and expert in developing communication vehicles and outreach strategies for Hispanic media, prior to founding Un Buen Doctor Health Magazine and Hispanic Health & Beauty Magazine, Mr. Olea was the Associate Publisher of Chicago’s leading weekly La Raza Newspaper and Corporate Manager for Impremedia, a position that also included corporate marketing oversight of La Opinion in LA, El Diario La Prensa in New York, La Prensa in Orlando and El Mensajero in San Francisco.

Mr. Olea initiated his Media and Communications career in 1992 with a low entry level position at La Raza Newspaper in Chicago and worked his way up. During a corporate career that spanned 14 years, he held numerous leadership positions at the publication including Sales Manager, General Sales Manager and Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Under his leadership in 1999, Olea was instrumental in repositioning La Raza form midweek to a “Sunday” newspaper; a strategic redirection that resulted in outstanding year-over-year growth in readership, circulation and advertising revenues.

During Mr. Olea’s stellar Media and Newspaper career he was the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions including: Top Sales Producer 5 years in a row, The World of La Raza, The Don Quixote award and the coveted Print Vision & Partnership Award from Newspaper Services of America. He also helped guide La Raza Newspaper to win scores of top print industry awards and now, he is receiving awards for his very own publication.

Receiving its third on a row First Place Gold Award, Un Buen Doctor Magazine has been recognized for Excellence in Publishing by the National Association of Hispanic Publication (NAHP) with The Jose Marti Award in 2011, 2012 & 2013 as the Outstanding Glossy Bilingual Magazine in the USA award.” In 2013 he received a Community Service Award for “Outstanding Contribution to the Illinois Latino Community” presented by the Illinois Association of Hispanic State Employees Conference.

Mr. Olea is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina where he studied engineering before permanently moving to Chicago in 1986. Carlos is a founding member of the Argentine American Midwest Chamber of Commerce maintaining a position on the board of directors since its inception. He is a board director at the Little Village Chamber of Commerce; Gift of Hope and Organ Donor Hispanic Community Advisory Board; SOL’s National Latino Health Study community advisory board, a former community board member of the American Cancer Society and a former board member at Salud Latina/Hispanic Health. Currently, he is actively involved in a number of local charity groups and community based organizations. Carlos is married to Maria del Carmen from Mexico with whom he has three children.
